Meta’s Cyber 5 2025 Report Offers a Roadmap into 2026
For those of us in public affairs, communications, and marketing, Meta’s Cyber 5 Report, the five-day period between Thanksgiving and the following Monday, offers a powerful look into how audiences are engaging, making decisions, and forming opinions in real-time.
Meta reported a staggering $44.2 billion in online sales, a 670 percent surge in AI-driven interactions, and a continued shift towards mobile-first engagement, with nearly 60 percent of transactions occurring on smartphones.
For public affairs, communications, and marketing professionals, this is a blueprint for modern advocacy campaigns. Here’s how the lessons from Meta’s Cyber 5 findings translate to our world:
Omnichannel strategy builds loyalty
Meta found that brands using omnichannel strategies delivered 35% lower costs and higher ROAS. In public affairs, this suggests that individuals are more likely to engage when every digital and in-person experience is easily accessible and spread across multiple touchpoints. Every impression matters.
AI and automation enhance accessibility
AI is changing how people find and engage with information, making it easier for audiences to get what they need quickly and intuitively. According to Meta, during the Cyber 5 period, AI platform traffic increased by 670 percent. In 2026 and beyond, accessibility through AI will be key to meaningful engagement, whether that’s helping someone discover a petition, a policy update, a cause to support, or a call to action. AI-powered discovery allows stakeholders to connect with information and take action instantly, both online and in person.
Creative diversity drives a deeper connection
Meta’s findings show that using diverse storytelling – through multiple formats, voices, and perspectives – outperforms one-size-fits-all campaigns. For professionals in our field, this means moving beyond static messaging and embracing dynamic, multi-format content that reflects the diversity of the audiences we serve. By embracing creative diversity, organizations can deliver messages that resonate across communities and inspire action on a larger scale.
As we step into 2026, the path forward for public affairs, communications, and marketing is clear. In a world shaped by data and driven by discovery, impact will undoubtedly belong to those who make information easy to find, engaging to experience, and impossible to ignore.
All About Verifications
To close out 2025, LinkedIn shared a major milestone announcement: the professional networking site now boasts over 100M verified members. With a goal to build trust and transparency, LinkedIn aimed to integrate easy verifications to confirm identities and ensure authentic connections could be formed. The company shared that their work is not done, and they will continue to seek ways to verify more members. Are you part of the 100M? It’s not too late to join in!
Incoming: New Ad Formats!
LinkedIn recently announced new ad options that maximize impact, increase personalization, and leverage AI. Social Media Today shares a great overview on the new formats, but here is a sneak peek:
- Prime Real Estate Reserved Ads: Ensures your ad appears as the first ad spot on the LinkedIn feed at a specified time and date.
- Detailed and Automated Ad Personalization: Enhanced ad personalization will automatically update captions to include individual member details like name, job title, industry, or company name.
- More AI Ad Variants: LinkedIn will suggest and generate branded creative from existing information.
- Flexible Ad Creation: This includes an option to upload multiple images, videos, and caption variations that LinkedIn can mix and match to optimize impact.
Portrait of a Platform: X’s Most Discussed Topics of 2025
In mid-December, X shared an overview of the most discussed topics from across 2025, revealing what people use the platform for most; notably, it wasn’t dominated by political content. For digital media and PR pros, that can mean a major opportunity — especially for brands that have hesitated to jump in post-rebrand.
Beyond the fire emoji being the most used emoji of the year, you can use this data to confidently pitch X as a conversation hub for culture, entertainment, sports, lifestyle and niche communities.
And don’t forget — you can use this data in media kits, pitches and quarterly reviews to justify campaign spend and executive social strategy shifts, especially when briefing C-suite or finance leaders reticent about the platform’s value.
X Drops 2026 Marketing Calendar
On December 22, X published its 2026 marketing calendar, outlining key events and thematic projections for the year.
X proactively provided a planning scaffold, essentially giving communicators a content and launch rhythm for 2026. It’s a sign X wants to be not just a distribution channel but a strategic partner for strategic media pros.
Why this matters for digital PR:
- You can align content releases, announcements, campaigns, and product reveals with the calendar’s rhythm and X-highlighted moments.
- Internally, digital pros can build launch readiness timelines primed to make the most of X’s algorithm.
- This sets up opportunities to surge paid amplification around trends relevant to your brands.
