Former ABC News Anchor Maura Kennedy Promoted to VP of Communications

Public affairs firm Strategic Elements recently announced the promotion of former CBS anchor/reporter public relations expert Maura Kennedy to Vice President of Communications. She is just one of the firm’s recent additions to the senior leadership team.

Maura brings 14 years of communications, public and media relations, thought leadership, and journalism experience to the Strategic Elements team. Driven by her love of journalism, she takes pride in creative storytelling and producing effective results. Under her leadership, the department will curate exceptional strategic communication for clients nationwide.  

 “When it comes to media expertise, Maura Kennedy delivers a unique skillset that only someone with insider knowledge of the media and TV news can add,” Strategic Elements President and CEO Christine Stineman said. “Maura’s background in journalism is a valuable resource as we continue to enhance clients’ media relations, communication training, crisis communication, and thought leadership efforts.” 

Maura was a TV news anchor and reporter for nearly a decade, covering breaking news around the country for ABC, CBS, and FOX news affiliates. She interviewed the late former U.S. Senator John McCain and U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright as a journalist. Maura also reported breaking news events live, covering stories across the nation, including the Boston Marathon bombing, Whitey Bulger trial, and Mitt Romney and Barack Obama’s presidential campaign tours.  

 “I am honored to step into the new role of Vice President of Communications,” Maura Kennedy said. “With my broadcast journalism background and thought leadership experience with clients, I am looking forward to developing unique media strategies for clients across the nation.”  

Maura is a contributor and expert panelist at Forbes and serves on the Forbes Communications Council. In addition, she is one of the founders of Women of the Row, a networking group for Boathouse Row women rowers. She also serves as the chair of the Communications Committee at the University Barge Club, a National Historic Landmark, and manages social media operations for the third-largest rowing competition in the U.S., Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
