A Des Moines native, Kelvey started with Strategic Elements in May of 2020. Before moving back to Iowa, she was previously located in Kansas City and worked with the Show-Me Institute, Missouri’s leading free-market think tank. During her time there she primarily worked in the fundraising and operations side of the nonprofit but also had the opportunity to gain experience working on city policy issues.
Kelvey graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and an emphasis on Criminal Justice. She was the legislative clerk to Iowa State Representative Norlin Mommsen for the entirety of General Assembly 86 and served as the Iowa State Director for the Millennials for Cruz Coalition during the 2016 presidential election. Early in college, Kelvey began a freelance writing and media business that allowed her to work with many different organizations over the years. She is a 2018 State Policy Network Generation Liberty Fellow and received the Op-Ed of the Year award from America’s Future Foundation in 2019.
