Unlock the Power of EGC: Let Your Employees Do the Talking

The key to transforming your company’s digital strategy could be right within reach – one desk away to be exact!

Explore how employee-generated content (EGC) might become the next exciting step in your digital strategy journey.

What is EGC?

EGC refers to content created by employees that share their workplace experiences. This strategy can take any form on any platform. From long-form content like blogs or YouTube videos to short-form content like Reels or LinkedIn captions, EGC offers plenty of options and provides a genuine glimpse into company culture.

Building up Brand Images

EGC builds trust through authenticity. When employees share why they love their job, it reflects a positive company culture. Potential clients, customers, and job candidates see this content and walk away with a favorable impression of the company. EGC also helps audiences connect more deeply with brands.

Hiring Opportunities

On platforms like LinkedIn, where social media and talent search go hand in hand, EGC can be useful for finding job candidates. By showcasing the company’s culture, potential hires get a sense of what it’s like to work there. EGC also offers opportunities for employees to answer questions about their job and the company.

Putting it to Use

EGC can take many forms, but some are especially effective. Blog posts are a great way to utilize employee-generated content, allowing employees to share their experiences in detail. Instagram Reels and YouTube videos can be used for visual content, such as “Day in the Life” videos. These typically show employees sharing different parts of their workday. Companies might even create a “Why (your company) Day,” where employees write a quick caption explaining why they enjoy their job. In these ways, EGC can serve as an internal alternative to influencer marketing, with employees acting as influencers and connecting with their key audiences.

EGC is more than just content. It’s a way to showcase your company’s culture and values. EGC builds trust, demonstrates personality, and emphasizes the people at the core of your business.

Seeing The World Through Meta’s Eyes

Meta’s new Oakley Meta Glasses line has been unveiled with a campaign starring Patrick Mahomes and Kylian Mbappé. The glasses will share the feature set of the Meta Ray-Bans, with some new additions such as higher battery life, a higher resolution Ultra HD camera, and added Meta AI features for athletes. This is a huge boon for those wanting to publish media, as the glasses allow you to capture authentic and rare moments on the fly, and publish them using voice commands, all without ever having to pull out your phone.

A New Generation

Meta has announced that it is focusing on implementing stronger protections for Instagram accounts managed by minors. This includes actively removing accounts that engage in inappropriate interactions with minors and adding new preventive measures to the content that teen accounts can be exposed to, such as nudity filters and a new blocking and reporting feature within DMs.

Employee-Generated Content on LinkedIn

LinkedIn’s powerful creation features allow organizations to amplify authentic voices within their company. By encouraging employees to share behind-the-scenes moments and insights into their work, companies can increase their brand visibility and fan base. EGC content that highlights employees’ daily lives and successes improves your company’s image and helps you compete effectively in the modern age.

Grok in Hot Water

After multiple instances of Grok, X’s powerful yet controversial AI, slipping up recently, X has removed several of its posts. In June, Elon Musk publicly apologized for false comments the AI made about Elon. Now, roughly a month later, X has taken down posts Grok made, and xAI has issued another apology, stating that a recent update caused this outburst. This outburst really highlights the widespread belief that AI still needs careful human supervision. The swift release of the patch that brought Grok back to normal also reminds us that AI is always just an update away from potentially becoming a challenge or a risk to the brand.
